Premier Tech Says Goodbye to Israel–Premier Tech: What’s Next for the Team?

premier tech says goodbye to israelpremier

Well, this is one for the cycling soap operas! In a surprise move that set the cycling rumor mill buzzing, Premier Tech has decided to call it a day with the Israel–Premier Tech squad—effective immediately. They say the situation has become “untenable” which is corporate for we want out. To be honest they should have just done it the first time round instead of the ultimatum, but that’s just my opinion.

Why Now? Racing, Protests, and a Team in Transition

Let’s not ignore the drama: Israel–Premier Tech found itself under the spotlight this year, both on the tarmac and off. There were noisy protests at races, stages getting shuffled, and a lot of people suddenly having opinions about cycling team names. The team, meanwhile, is rebranding (hello, “Cycling Academy” for 2026!) in a move that’s as much about fresh starts as it is about keeping the wheels spinning at WorldTour level.

The End of an Era—But Here’s to What’s Next

Let’s be honest: the cycling world is never short on drama, and with Premier Tech and its high-profile backers out of the picture, maybe it’s just what the team needs to finally hit reset. With the old guard riding off and big changes ahead, there’s a real sense of possibility in the air.

Out from under the shadow of big-money personalities, the heart of the team—the riders, the diehards in the staff, the everyday fans—get a rare chance to shape the next chapter. will there be more focus on what really matters: racing bikes, surprising the skeptics (myself being one).

What Happens Now?

The team is on the hunt for a new partner to slap on the jerseys, and there’s an unmistakable “we’re still here!” vibe coming from the core. Premier Tech, for its part, promises to keep supporting bikes, Canadian cycling, and, let’s hope, plenty of future finish-line champagne moments—just with a little less headline pressure.

So here’s to surprise plot twists that I’m sure are coming, one thing’s for sure: cycling never gives us a dull moment!
